4 Easy Steps to Selling/Trading in Your Car
1. Determining Your Car’s Appraised Value
What is appraised value? Appraised value is the amount Honda Mall of Georgia is willing to pay you to purchase your vehicle. The amount of the appraised value can be impacted by many factors including age, mileage, interior and exterior condition, features, and seasonality.
Here’s how it works:
· We test drive your car to determine its mechanical condition.
· We check the interior & exterior to make sure its condition is consistent with the age of your car. Excessive wear and tear may affect your car’s appraised value.
· We check the mileage/age. Excessive miles may lower your car’s value and narrow its resale market. Average mileage is around 12,000 to 15,000 per year.
· We check the paint & body work for paint lines, overspray, body putty, dents, scratches and other signs of previous body repair. Frame damage will also affect your car’s value because it shows your car has been in a serious accident and may not drive properly. At Honda Mall of Georgia, we don’t resell frame-damaged vehicles. These vehicles are sold at wholesale auction to other dealers.
2. Get A Written Offer
· You get an honest, fair written offer that’s good for 7 days or 300 miles, whichever comes first. Please refer to the vehicle purchase agreement for the conditions of the sale.
· You get the same great offer whether you buy a car from us or not!
3. Determining Title & Pay-Off Information
· If you completely own your vehicle, we’ll have you (and anyone else listed on the title) sign it and fill out a few additional forms.
· If there’s a pay-off involved, we’ll call your finance company and get information to determine your balance. A bank draft may be issued to you for the difference.
· If payoff is more than the value of your vehicle, the difference is called negative equity. We’ll calculate the difference between your payoff and our offer to you. We’ll accept a cashier's check or certified check for the amount you owe and then pay off the finance company. In some cases, the negative equity can be included in your financing when you buy a Honda Mall of Georgia car.
4. Get Money For Your Car!
· Need another car? Use all or part of your money as a downpayment on a great Honda Mall of Georgia car! Browse our lot hassle-free or use our touch-screen inventory computer to put every car and truck at your fingertips.
· Or we’ll issue you a bank draft that can be deposited in your account. Your bank will typically place a hold on the bank draft that can last from 3 to 10 banking days. The bank uses this waiting period to approve the release of funds to you.
